Use of these motors can lead to substantial reduction
in energy costs. The payback periods are in the order
of 3 to 6 months depending upon the usage. Replacing existing
motors with High Efficiency - eff1 Motors even in power
intensive industries gives a payback within 1 to 2 years.

Hazardous areas are defined as locations where explosive
Gas-Air Mixture may occur in dangerous concentrations.
IS : 5572 & IS : 15142 classifies the hazardous areas
into three zones depending on the frequency and duration
for which dangerous concentrations are likely to be present.
Classification of Hazardous Areas (Gases and Vapours)
Classification of these zones and selection of electrical
equipment is as under:
| Zone |
Classification
of area as per Ref std. IS:5572 |
Selection
of electrical equipment based on Ref std. IS:5571 |
| Zone `0' |
An area in which Hazardous
atmosphere is continuously present |
Generally, use of electrical
equipment is to be avoided. But when this is not practicable,
intrinsically safe or pressurized electrical equipment
to be used. |
| Zone `1' |
Hazardous atmosphere is
likely to be present under normal operating conditions. |
For this area , electrical
equipment used , must be in flame proof enclosure
type Ex d conforming to IS : 2148. |
| Zone `2' |
Hazardous atmosphere is
likely to be present under abnormal operating conditions
and for a short periods |
Apparatus with type of
protection Ex 'e' in accordance with IS : 6381 may
be used without any special enclosure. Apparatus having
type of protection Ex `n' in accordance with IS :
8289 are also permitted for use. Three phase induction
motors having protection type Ex `n' conforming to
IS:9628 are permitted. |

BBL manufactures TEFC three phase DC Brake Motors with
Type 'MB'. These motors are used for applications requiring
positive and instantaneous braking. These motors are 'fail
safe', which means that the brake will be applied immediately
in case the power supply fails or is switched off.
These motors have a built in rectifier along with a varistor
for protecting the rectifier as well as the brake coil
from voltage surges. The special brake liner used assures
consistent braking torque with minimum wear. This leads
to almost maintenance free operation. These motors can
be offered in various types of mounting. BBL manufactures
these motors in frame sizes from 71 to 132M in 2, 4, 6
and 8 pole.
Multi speed brake motors can also be supplied. Motors
from 90S to 132M can also be supplied with a manual release
arrangement to manually release the brake.
